Older Persons’ Volunteer

55 Alive is an activity group for the over 55’s which has been running since July 2021. The focus of the group is to tackle isolation and facilitate the building up of friendships in the older population, especially in those who have become isolated due to personal circumstances.

The activities are varied and we often have guests come in to do card making or art. We also run arm chair exercises and host quizzes as well as enjoy the occasional game of bingo!

The main job of the volunteer is to help with setting up, chatting to the members during the activities, serving hot drinks and clearing up at the end. It is very important to watch for anyone who might seem to be sitting on their own or not engaging in conversation as we do not want anyone to feel lonely.
